Jack Pike makes all of my rubber stamps, big (7” wide) and small (5mm). Self-
inkers and handle stampers alike. Great, classic stuff. He’s the best.

Phil was really helpful in getting all our things printed and cut how we
wanted. He tackled some tricky die cutting work for a small booklet folded
down from one sheet and didn’t have any qualms about it. They also push
themselves as being a greener printer and utilize a waterless press
that uses soy based inks and also have an HP Indigo digital press.

Knust specializes in color stencil printing (mimeograph), using riso or ricoh
machines with water-based inks (they mix a lot of the colors there) — very
recognizable bold color prints! They will also do pre-press and bookbinding,
everything priced for low-cost, do-it-yourself production. They also have a
little visiting-artist program, and a bookshop.

All these guys do are print bluelines (blueprints) and blacklines, as well as
digital black and white architectural prints. I have printed a few things with
them and they have never hesitated to help me out or ask any questions
and the quality is great as are the prices.

Probably the best printer in Switzerland. They always win many prizes at the
“Best Swiss Book” competition. They are not cheap like most printers in
Switzerland, but I have also heard they can be cheap. The quality is really
good; I have the feeling they can do anything. The staff are really nice and
and helpful. I think they can be fast, and also print small amounts. They
often work with the best bookbinder in Switzerland: www.bubu.ch

Until a few years ago they housed the highest line-screen press in the US,
recently replacing their system with an HP Indigo and beginning to use only a
web press in-house. The advanced pre-press department—including custom
color profiling and proofing systems—is still in place, making them one of the
only short-run presses with as much control as an offset print shop. They
also have a full bindery and staff of bookmakers in-house who in addition
to making hard and soft covers, perfect-bound and sewn bindings, can
emboss, deboss, and foil stamp.

Riso stencil printing, primarily working with artists and design groups, with
reasonably good turnaround, depending on the complexity of the project.

We used Duncan’s RISO to print issues 3 and 5 of Kingsboro. It is a really
amazing machine and Duncan is the greatest; he is super knowledgeable,
professional, and also awesome company!
